Additionally, we address underlying mental health concerns that can commonly coocur with substance use. The program is comprable to the ASAM Criteria Level of Service 1 and .5.
We invite you to join our Calla Crew if you are ready to help people turn a consequence into an opportunity. How can I become a part of the team, you may ask?
The answer is adhering to three principles in the User Agreement:
Lead instructor must be licensed in the substance use / mental health profession with training/experience in substance use. Co-instructors do not need to be licensed mental health professionals, but it is preferred.
Each individual class size is limited to 25 participants. This allows for quality group interactions, challenge and individualized feedback and guidance from instructor(s).
Lead instructor must demonstrate experience and background in Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Calla Curriculums for Substance Use Disorders Get S-M-A-R-T® has been developed through years of experience working with professionals in legal services, public courts, correctional institutions, healthcare, social work, private therapy practices, and universities.
With the drug and alcohol epidemic at an all time high, we have an opportunity to change. American culture is alcohol and drug driven. We lack skills to cope with life stressors and truama. We have many, many people caught up in in the “social culture” who experience a legal consequence, university sanction, or even employer mandate. As mental health and addiction professionals it is time we ©Get Smart! We need to educate people about the importance of using interactive education rather than simply information sharing, which research shows does not lead to treatment effectiveness. We need to treat people with respect, and help them feel empowered rather than “criminalized” just because they are going through legal or mandated consequences. People experience shame and stigma because of our system. It’s time to do something different.
The chart to the right depicts a review of local clients who attended the 8 Hour ©Get S-M-A-R-T class and those who were arrested again for a drug or alcohol related charge.
There are 3 tiers of the ©Get S-M-A-R-T Curriculum – the 8-hour, 12-hour, and 20-hour classes. Each class builds on each other, with increasing degrees of intensity, respectively. The chart on the left illustrates how these courses build upon each other, with the 8-hour course being the foundation of the curriculum. At Calla Collaborative Health, we want our ©Get S-M-A-R-T instructors to feel supported, which is why in early 2020, we are launching the online Calla Crew Membership, available to all membership users of the curricula, to access additional resources for your classroom, training, and online correspondence and webinars with Lisa and her team. Calla Crew Members within our region (central Indiana) will even have access to in-person training and have the opportunity to observe a Calla Collaborative Health ©Get S-M-A-R-T class.
